Larch Class

"Pupils have forged friendship groups across ethnic, religious, social and cultural boundaries, and this shows a remarkable level of respect and tolerance towards each other".

Ofsted Inspection Report, 2015

Welcome to Miss Smales' class

We have an exciting term ahead as we take off with our learning in Year 5, reaching for the stars! A term of space exploration awaits. We are looking forward to finding out all about the worlds around us, to immersing ourselves in our class novel Mortal Engines by Philip Reeves and to develop out mathematics skills.

Useful Information:

Larch Class will be taught by Miss Helen Smales and Mrs Nicola Abbott (on Thursday afternoons).

The TA supporting Larch Class in the mornings is Delia Mackecknie.

PE sessions for Larch Class during terms 1 and 2 are on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. PE kits need to be in school all week in case of changes or additional opportunities.

Homework is given out on a Wednesday and is due back in by the following Monday. Homework is given for Maths and English/Topic every week.

Spellings will also be given out on a Wednesday and a test will take place on the following Tuesday.

Children also need to practice their multiplication tables regularly and these will be assessed through certain mental maths sessions.

Reading is of paramount importance so children should be reading at least 5 times a week. They have a reading record in which to record any reading they do which should be brought into school every day.
