Meet the Pupils

House Teams

On starting at Micklands, every child is put into one of our house teams, identified by an animal and colour:

Micklands House Teams

Staff reward good behaviour and effort by awarding house points to children in each class. Points awarded across the whole school are added up each week and the team with the most points receives the house cup. At the beginning of the new school year, each house elects two year 6 pupils to be their House Captain and Sports Captain.

Message from the House and Sports Captains

We help organise fun events for the house teams throughout the year and encourage our house members to work hard and behave well so that we win the weekly house point challenge (and house cup)! We hold regular house meetings to try to encourage everyone to be involved.

On Sports Day the house teams compete against each other in a variety of activities to win points for their house.

Message from the Healthy Schools Team

We communicate positive messages about healthy living, being safe and happy at school.

We encourage everyone to make the right choices. We have been involved in meeting important people about the healthy school menu and creating questionnaires about being happy at school.

Message from the Eco Team

Our role is to raise the profile of sustainable development within the school and we are aiming to achieve the Green Flag.

In addition, the school covers some environmental issues within curriculum work and a designated noticeboard gives details of our Eco Schools activities.

Message from the School Council

Our School Council members are elected by the pupils to represent the views of all children attending Micklands and to improve the school.

The School Council meets - usually with a teacher present - to discuss and resolve problems. They cover a range of topics which may include school lunches, behaviour or ideas for fundraising events.

Members of the School Council are responsible for carrying out the ideas that have been agreed including planning events, writing newspaper articles, or meeting with staff.
