November 2016: Thank you to everyone who has sent in pens for recycling.  We have reached our target number of points from last year needed to turn the points into a year's supply of stationary for a school child in Haiti and a vegetable garden in Uganda.  The eco team will be discussing with their classes which points target to work for this year.  Keep collecting/sending in old pens.  Thank you.

Welcome!

Welcome to the eco team page.  We are an enthusiastic team with lots of ideas how to be eco friendly.

Current Projects (Autumn 2016)

Pen recycling

The eco team are continuing to collect used pens for recycling.  The pens we collect are sent to an organisation that recycles them and also gives us eco points that we can donate to charity or fund eco projects in school

Last year we used our points to donate stationery to schools in Africa.  This year we are hoping to collect lots more eco points!  We will be deciding which charity to support with our eco points this year! If you have any suggestions, please let your class eco rep know.

Stamp recycling

We are also continuing to collect stamps for charity.  In previous years we have sent the stamps to the PDSA and a charity for injured hedgehogs.  These charities were voted for by the children.  We look forward to finding out which charity wins the vote this year!

Previous projects

Recycled tiles

We were donated 50 old white ceramic bathroom tiles.  The eco team enjoyed decorating these with animal and plant designs to make a border for the eco garden..

Eco Garden

We enjoyed making butterflies out of empty milk bottles to decorate the eco garden.  We have lots of other crafty ideas for recycled crafts for the garden for this year!  We want to make flowers out of cds and carrier bags.  We invited childrewn from all year groups to eco club to contribute to the garden dectorations.

We also involved other children by asking them to submit design ideas for the eco garden and the vegetable plot.  Year 4 were particularly enthusiastic about this and had some great ideas.

RSPB bird watch

January is RSPB bird month.  Throughout the month, the eco team took responsibility for feeding the birds and we had a rota for each year group to feed the birds once a fortnight.  We also took part in the RSPB bird watch survey. We hope to take part in this again in January 2017.

Poster competition

We ran a poster competition to encourage people to find out more about their class trees.  Nature and the environment is very imporant to the eco team and we wanted to encourage people to learn more about different types of trees. Congratulations to the winners:
