Year 6 Home Learning

Below are activities for you and your child to do during this time at home.  These are what we would cover in school, so completing as many of them as possible will ensure your child’s progress continues:

General maths and English work

My Maths - all children have their own log ins. Try all the year 6 booster lessons and related activities.

Twinkl - practise SATs papers - arithmetic, reasoning, Grammar and punctuation, reading, spelling. These do not have to be timed or done all in one go unless children want to.

Topmarks - search activities for year 6. There are good games and also SATs practise activities.

TT Rock stars - all children have their own log in. Good for times table practise.

www.spelling frame.co.uk - there are games covering all year 6 spelling rules

maths zone for maths games and activities

Work in preparation for our next topic - Reading and the railways

Research the life and work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Create a research project about him- this can be in any format you wish: an information poster, a booklet, a power point etc. Include a biography of his life and contributions.

Find some pictures of famous bridges and have a go at sketching them.

Research Great Western Railways and how it affected Reading. Write some notes about it or include it in your project.
