Cedar Class
Welcome to Mrs Thomas' Class - September 2018
Welcome back to school, we hope you have had a lovely summer break and are ready for the challenges of KS2. This year, we are supported by the wonderful TAs - Mrs Schofield and Mrs Fowler.
Important Information
We have PE every Wednesday (outdoor PE with Miss Abbott) and every other Thursday (indoor). Please ensure PE Kits are in school all week and that everything is labelled. That also applies to uniform - especially jumpers / cardigans and coats, lunch boxes and water bottles. We seem to spend an awful lot of time trying to work out what belongs to whom!
Homework will be sent home every Wednesday and should be completed and ready to hand in the following Monday. In Year 3, we set 10 minutes of homework for English, Maths and Spelling - there will be a spelling test of the week's words every Monday. If you have any queries about the homework, please speak to Miss Smith. In KS2, if children do not hand their homework in, they will be required to go to Homework Club on a Tuesday lunchtime to complete it.
We also expect children to read at home 5 times a week as this is paramount to their progress. Please make sure you ask your children lots of questions about the text to check and develop their comprehension. When your child has finished their home reading book, please sign their reading record and then they will be able to change their book.
Our library day is Friday.
Please click to see our list of class readers and the Literature Spine for Year 3. The class readers are books we will read in school - we'd rather you didn't encourage your child to read these before they have been read in class. However, the literature spine details high quality books for this age group and we would encourage you to read these at home, in addition to us reading them in class.
